 Statement

Insect, one of the oldest living being on earth, witnesses the history of earth and human being. Many of the insect species have very similar appearances to their ancestors, unlike most other animals that evolve through evolution. Time doesn’t seem to impact insects much. My work uses insect as subject to reflect on contemporary topics surrounding time, change, mutation, and redefine.

Insect characteristics in my work act as an indication to effect common sense. My work attempt to pass through three dimensional world and peek towards unknown possibilities of our universe. The objects in my painting generate energy and glow from the inside. By melting into each other, they urge viewers to search for familiar features among them. The diversity of insect, including their unsettling, destructive traits are my main inspiration in making work.

By making these works, I raise discussions related to relationship and communication between individual and collective, adding in fantasy elements to create an imagery documentation of the world we are part of.
